GO IRISH!

I don't really have any special insights on this one--no killer technology predicting the score, no inside access to coaches, players, or their friends or family, no high-powered sniping rifle and air balloon for...something mean.

But: I'm psyched about the game! I had few expectations at the beginning of this season, and so I think I'm ready for whatever happens today (the only thing I would be upset about I think is a total blowout by USC). All I can say today is...

GGGGG OOOOO IIIII RRRR IIIII SSSSS H H !!
G O O I R R I S H H !!
G O O I R R I S H H !!
G GG O O I RRRR I SSSSS HHHHH !!
G G O O I R R I S H H !!
G G O O I R R I S H H
GGGG OOOOO IIIII R R IIIII SSSSS H H !!

OK...I just spent trying to get an homage to ACSII, BBS style print to work out properly such that I could spell in 8X5 lettering, "GO IRISH!" The above gibberish is the outcome. Makes me realize the current truism that:

New technologies always bring something new and solve some old problem, but they also necessarily lose some previous capabilities and inherently cause new problems. Here, using a fixed width font in the blog editor that then translates to a variable width font for the more elegant blog page causes me heartaches! There is surely some way to do this, but I tried a little to find it and could not. Oh well.

GO IRISH!

NOT TMI about Kate--just enough!

Check it out: the old ball n chain's got a blog! And its already better than mine. Conversational, topical, and insightful. The net could use a few more comments from people like her who don't fit easily into standard categories.

But then, I've got a serious bias.

Differences & Repetitions

Here is a scholar I first encountered at the National Communication Association (NCA) Convention in 2003. I heard him talk about the role of the eBook in our ongoing relationship with print.

Then, as I was leaving Bloomington to take my position here, I learned he had been hired in my old department.

Now, I see he also has a blog on Blogger. Check him out.
